  • I bought this monitor on a whim from Staples the day after Christmas thinking I was getting a great deal at 99.99 for a monitor that had gotten good reviews across the board. Purchased it, got home, set it up, and overlooked the flimsy base panel, and the flawed placement of the adjustment buttons, which are on the bottom and uncomfortable to reach. The picture looked great for a little bit, at first it ran silky smooth, had great picture too, but less than an hour later, my PC froze, something it NEVER did before until I installed this thing. I had to reboot, and lo and behold, right in front of me was a stuck pixel, an ugly, green, stuck pixel.

The issues didn’t end there either, oh sure, I massaged the stuck pixel away but then some more appeared, sometimes as many as seven on the screen at once. Now it’d be understandable if this thing were a few years old, but for a brand new monitor to be having such problems was unacceptable. Needless to say, after ten days of owning the thing and continuing to see the problems I was seeing, I knew it was time for me to say goodbye. I went and returned it to Staples, making sure I put it in it’s original box, and got my refund. Am so glad I did because the thing turned out to be a waste, I also heard that this monitor is manufactured by Acer under the e-Machines brand, which makes sense, however, Acer does not exactly make the best monitors. Either I got a lemon or something, but seriously, I would not recommend this product to a friend based off of the experience that I had.

Needless to say, I went over to my local Best Buy, and managed to snag a Hewlett-Packard 2009m with the refund money, trust me, if you want a really, really good monitor for cheap? Hewlett-Packard is the way to go, do not, and I repeat, do NOT get this monitor, the only reason I gave it one star was because during the time it worked, the picture was good, and the scalability of the monitor itself, but that is the only positive thing I have to say about it. The flimsy design of the base frame, the questionable quality of the monitor itself, and the lack of a sturdy feeling in this product overall makes me give it one star.

  • 99$…delievered from Staples with VGA and DVI Cables…now, i have a “over-the hill” computer….for 5 years i have held this box together with duct-tape…gum… paper-clips and some real upgrades….(memory-video card and this monitor)….i refuse do go buy a new box when this one fullfills my needs…gaming…video..web browsing..its all good…no problem with 360p-480p-720p vids….and the HD from the TV players…if your on the fence…go for it…get rid of that old clunky CRT…if your computer can’t push a decent VGA signal (which is pretty much unlikely)…for 89$-99$…just hold on to it…and your good to go—when you do upgrade your box…if you have to have the “lastest and greatest”..don’t bother…but for a decent…nice size..LCD flat panel monitor…hey…you could do worse…the speaker complaints…who doesn’t have a pair of external computer speakers laying around??…the control complaints…stop…you bunch of babies…conclusion…if you have a decent computer that you like…this is a nice affordable upgrade that will make your browsing so much better………

Yet another buyer on Black Friday. I drop down a star as the built in speakers are one step above useless as far as I’m concerned … but I was buying a display so I can live with using external speakers. My only other objection is the lack of ability to adjust screen size by width and height. At this point (about 2 weeks of ownership), the lack of adjustments seems to be a problem mostly when working in the BIOS settings. (And perhaps I’m missing something in the way of adjustments in the OSD)

My **** rating is for excellent display quality – great color, sharp text etc although I’m running at 1280 x 720 and not full resolution. The stand and case are good enough but not remarkable. This monitor is an extreme bargain when sub $100 but I’d comparison shop if selling for well over $100.

Great monitor for the price. I bought it at staples after black friday, thinking that I had missed out on the deal. But then they had it again for ten dollars over the black friday special, but I was lucky enough to find an in-store coupon for 10% off. In the end it was 2 cents cheaper than black friday (wow, such a difference…sarcastic).

I tend to watch movies/tv on my computer, so I needed a widescreen to enjoy it. This isn’t too bad, but compared to a TV the picture quality is slightly less than the TV. Colors are easy on the eyes on the right settings.

It’s a very big monitor for the price that I paid, around ninety bucks.

The controls are at the bottom so it’s a bit hard to get to them when I want to adjust the brightness. Also, the stand is very very low, you can only tilt the screen. So I just added a phonebook to the bottom of the screen, not a big deal.

All in all, finding a 21.5-22″ screen for under a hundred is rare. If it’s not that price, I’m sure there are better models out there.

I bought this monitor from someone else who bought two on a black friday sale, so I paid significantly less than it’s listed for on Amazon. The display is HUGE compared to my 15″ CRT it replaced. Colors are very nice and the 1920×1080 resolution is great. It included a VGA & DVI cable, as well as the audio and power cords. The speakers are a bit weak, but are only used for system sounds or youtube videos anyway. Don’t bother listening to music with them. Menu buttons are a bit clumsy, but the auto-config works great. Watching high-def DVDs look great, color and contrast is decent. As a bonus, on 1920×1080 I can have a full browser and Word document open side by side with Windows 7! As a side note, the screen is a matte screen, not glossy, which I actually prefer.

Not the best monitor around, but an excellent 22″ class LCD monitor for really cheap!
